As the top players in their respective sports, Roger Federer and Tiger Woods have a growing friendship. Now they both can claim bragging rights to being on the cover of Men’s Vogue.  Federer is featured in the May/June issue available on newsstands this week. Woods was in last spring’s issue.

Photographed by Annie Leibovitz in Dubai, where the 25-year-old Swiss tennis star has an apartment, the 12-page spread written by Tim Adams looks at Federer’s life and likes (think cars, international cuisine and video games) well beyond the tennis court.

Federer on needing downtime:”When you are younger and playing well, you want to play and play and play until you lose.  But I have got to the point where I can leave it for a while and come back confident it is all still there.”

Federer on his future:”I am prepared for what happens after. I don’t think it is going to rattle me. I hope not. It is normal to lose. Normal for a career to end. I won’t be surprised.”

Federer on hitting with Bjorn Borg: “He played very well. I could easily still practice with him, you know.”

Woods on talking to and text messaging Federer: “About the mind-set that it takes, the discipline. But a lot of the stuff is BS. We’re just giving each other a lot of grief all the time.”
