Diane Keaton — one of film’s all-time class acts — got a lifetime achievement award last night from the Film Society of Lincoln Center.

The Annie Hall legend has 37 years of movies under her black-patent-leather belt, which during the big tribute anchored a chic white shirt and black fishtail ball skirt ensemble.

In her trademark self-deprecating style, Diane told a capitvated audience: “I really do believe that gratitude is a hard one to kind of pull off, but it is the essence of everything for me tonight.” She said she was grateful, and thrilled, by that fact that anybody came to toast her at all.

“Anybody” included Woody Allen, Meryl Streep, Steve Martin and Sarah Jessica Parker. Lisa Kudrow, a presenter, said she may have been Keaton’s co-star, but “the fan part will never go away.”

I love love love Diane. One of my favorite movies of all time is Annie Hall. I like her style, I admire that she’s allowed herself to age gracefully and naturally in such a superficial business, and I appreciate her humor. I think she’s awesome =).
