Luxury Swiss watch manufacturer, IWC Schaffhausen, celebrated its new Da Vinci range with a glamorous event in front of an audience of illustrious international guests.

The high point of the gala in Geneva, Switzerland was provided by Oscar-winner Kevin Spacey, who appeared as a star guest in a self-produced stage play. The short film of this performance will have its own online world premiere on May 16.

Cate Blanchett and the actors Jean Reno and Matthew Modine headed the cohort of actors on the red carpet, flanked by Asian stars Sanada Hiroyuki and Chang Cheng while Egyptian super star Hany Salama represented the Middle East at the event.

It was a case of ‘Would You Be Caught Dead in This Outfit?’ for gorgeous Cate who showed up at the A-list event in this ill-fitting monstrous creation. I guess you can’t knock ’em dead each and every time.

i’d forgive cate anything- i think she looks gorgeous here anyway- certainly not conventional (“she’s too pale” “weird dress” blah blah) but she pulls it off every time!

thandie newton looks lovely as always. i’d love to see a pic of how jean reno’s looking these days! one of my dad’s fav french actors (who’s actually nth african like him)!

i love how international this event is! i’m sure i’m not the only one that gets sick of seeing the same hollywood faces when there are many actors just as (or more) talented from other countries!

I luv her but I TOTALLY agree with you Arasto! That dress looks like her kids took a black magic marker to it.

YOU FAILED TO MENTION THANDIE NEWTON!!!!!!!

Wow, talk about doppleganger. I was so sure that was Heath Ledger in the first pic, even though everything looked so wrong about that.

One more vote for a Thandie mention. She’s hot.

Cate looks good – like a Nordic princess. She is not too pale. It’s her natural, healthy skin tone. It’s “burned french fry” that’s not an appealing color.
