Karl Rove, a.k.a. the “architect” of George W. Bush‘s presidential victory, reportedly clashed with Sheryl Crow over global warming at a gala dinner in Washington.

Both were guests at the annual White House Correspondents Association dinner. Sheryl — who has been on a promotional tour with ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ producer Laurie David — approached Rove and the result was a heated exchange, The Washington Post reported.

“I am floored by what I just experienced with Karl Rove,” David said. “I went over to him and said, ‘I urge you to take a new look at global warming.’ He went zero to 100 with me … I’ve never had anyone be so rude.”

Rove had a different account of the incident. “She came over to insult me and she succeeded,” he said.

In a posting at the online Huffington Post, Laurie said Sheryl reached out to touch Rove’s arm and Rove said, “Don’t touch me.”

Sheryl responded, “You can’t speak to us like that, you work for us.”

Rove answered by saying he works for the American people, to which Sheryl responded, “We are the American people.”

Since then, the American right-wing media has had a field day with the incident. The Fox and Friends crew put down Sheryl (spelled incorrectly on the crawl as Cheryl Crow) by taking one way she said we could consume less paper by using less toilet tissue. They even had it as their question of the day, ‘Out of her mind or is one sheet fine?” Of course everyone who called in said that Crow was wrong and didn’t know what she was talking about.

Karl Rove is an ignorant, evil man. He probably has real estate on Mars which is why he doesn’t care about the Earth.

Yeah, just when you thought he couldn’t be any cuddlier. Though, to be fair, I wouldn’t touch him with 10 ft. pole. Or a 10 ft. American either.

Comment by oh, why not?

Dottcomm1 Hooray! I TOTALLY AGREE. He is a horrible evil man who is ruining both our country and our environment. Even a slow & painful death may be too easy for him. He is a worthless piece of garbage.

I will muzzle my liberal musings for now…
I do hate it when people trivialise others’ arguments. Aside from anything, it is valid to say we should use less toilet paper. Just as it’s a valid to say we should switch off all our electrical appliances and reduce usage of our cars. Just cos it’s not convenient doesn’t mean it’s ridiculous.

*phew, rant over

This one tissue thing is being used by the FOX network to make fun of environmental damage reduction strategies. It is a pity American people are led more by silly sensationalism than real facts or real solutions from our “leaders”.

OK, you all use one piece of toilet paper, and live your lives according to what these nutbars say. And don’t expect them to practice what they preach, that’s for the little people!!!
And, Sheryl Crow should keep her hands to herself… who the hell does she think she is???

The entire Bush Administration needs to go NOW! From the environment and beyond the Republicans care only for themselves. Did anyone hear McCain on MSNBC this morning calling for more Nuclear energy?!?! The Earth should open up and swallow Washington DC and why not swallow up FOXnews and Ann Coulter and Ruch Limbaugh while we’re at it.

did you know that Laurie David — that Gulstream-addicted trophy wife — and her husband were cited for “building a 26-foot-long barbecue station, stone-and-concrete bonfire pit, and outdoor theater on an environmentally sensitive patch of their 14-acre North Road property without the proper permits [?] They were also cited for tearing up protected vegetation to make way for a lush, sodded lawn, among other crimes against nature.”
